What We Do
Claims Investigation Pty Ltd is a specialist investigation business operating out of Sydney for insurers, lawyers and other industry bodies in the defence of compensation claims.
Our Dust Diseases Tribunal (DDT) investigations consist primarily of asbestos related matters, although we have seen a growing demand for investigations involving exposure to engineered stone (kitchen benchtops) since around 2017. We also conduct investigations in relation to other latent diseases such as exposure to passive smoking and other carcinogens. Our DDT investigations usually involve obtaining relevant ASIC documents either from online services or from the more historic microfiche records, followed by identifying and locating relevant witnesses, often going back 40 or 50 years. We have a proven track record of delivering excellent results to our clients that have resulted in substantial savings to Underwriters. Our Public Liability, Product Liability and Professional Indemnity investigations are varied in nature and once again, the detailed statements and the comprehensive reports we provide have been greatly appreciated by our clients. Public Liability investigations often involve complex construction risks, including Joint Ventures.
A growth area since around 2016 has been investigation of historical sexual abuse claims against educational, religious, government and charity organisations.
The investigations can be tailored to the client’s requirements, be it a preliminary investigation to establish any potential liability and/or clarify possible indemnity issues or a far more detailed factual investigation involving identifying, locating and interviewing relevant witnesses in addition to obtaining all relevant documentary evidence.
Due to the nature of certain investigations, we have vast experience in locating witnesses. However, this is not our core business and is only provided as an additional service during the conduct of our investigations or to existing clients.
